I’m a huge fan of Old School Death Metal. My favorite band is Cannibal Corpse; they embody everything I love about the genre. On the surface, they are audibly disgusting. The atmosphere created by their sound is putrid to those with an unrefined palette, and gospel to those who love all things vile. But, underneath that veil of wickedness, their songs are meticulously detailed. Every riff, every blast beat, every scream is purposeful, and that’s how all art should be.
